ISLANDCOM Powers up Grand Turk!

The family community of Grand Turk truly experienced the power of 3G when the dynamic event team from Islandcom Wireless joined forces with the Planning Committee of the Grand Turk Bill Fishing Tournament to stage yet another exciting event at Governors Beach on Saturday July 3, 2010.

“Islandcom really stepped up and helped us to pull this event off,” said Ian Astwood, Chairman of the Planning Committee, “without their support we may not have had this event, the seventeenth annual Game Fishing Tournament.”

Grand Turk residents came out in numbers to enjoy the outpouring of giveaways and surprises from Islandcom. The definite hit for the day were the multiple demonstrations of Video Calling on 3G which excited the local MC Sheldon Wilson, “I just did not know that we could have these features working on our phones here in the TCI”, commented Carter.

Whilst some fished, others spent the day engaged in Islandcom sponsored Domino Championship and Speed Challenges. Even the kids showcased their fishing skills in the Islandcom Go Fish Game!  All day long patrons flocked the Islandcom booth to witness the impressive array of phones live on 3G handsets. From iPhone to Blackberry all were amazed at the features their phone could now offer when operating on the powerful 3G network. By nightfall, the festivities ripened when all were entertained by the lively Police Band with the amazing lead singer Officer Michael Francois, as well as the awesome sounds of Vibrations.

The event marked the official market launch of Islandcom’s new 3G Network in Grand Turk. “The true highlight of the day for me was watching the sheer delight on everyone’s face as they discovered that there are better rates out there for calling within the Turks and Caicos as well as internationally,”  said Tanya-Sue Morgan, Marketing Manager of Islandcom.
